37 weeks and 5 days - update

Hi! First of all I want to thank everyone for their emails, prayers, calls, gifts and support :)
Quick update: I had another weekly check up today and everything looks good. The baby was put on a monitor to track his heart rate since he hasn’t been moving as much as he was, but as soon as they turned the monitor on he decided to start moving all over the place which is good b/c we know he’s okay, but funny that he decides to start moving when I’m telling the doctor that he hasn’t been moving, lol.
The doctors have scheduled an induction for next Tuesday, Feb. 10 so let’s see if he stays in until then :)

Question for other CDH moms: What do I need to bring to the hospital for the baby since he will be at the hospital for months?

Thanks!

~ Carla

Hopefully your water doesn't break five days before the induction date?like mine I was completely freaked out! I was not ready! but Owain was and then at the last minute(twenty hours of labor) he deiced he wasn't ready and I ended up having a c-section. That little rascal!

I will be keeping you and your little man in my thoughts and prayers. Praying for a smooth delivery and a not so bumpy CDH roller coaster ride.

My suggestion for the hospital is sleep with a blanket or stuff animal so it has your sent on it. I would bring Owain a new receiving blanket everyday that I slept with. The first few weeks he was so sensitive to light or noise I would lay the blanket over his little eyes. Oh and of course the camera! Can't forget that. We also put some pictures the family on his crib.

Sending lots of prayers!!!!!

Amber

P.S I took a look at your photography site.I love it!!!!

We are praying you have a smooth labor and everything goes well.

I pretty much did the same thing Amber did. I also brought a book to read to Nayeli everyday. I brought a couple of her stuffed toys to put in her radiant warmer, pictures of us to hang. we brought an ink pad to get her footprints and handprints, video camera, camera. after she was off the ventilator I was able to dress her in clothes that were button up so her tubes could still go through. I brought chapstick but they had moisterizer to put on her lips at the hospital. her lips got very dry. you might also want to bring an a file or nail clippers because they might not clip his nails for you. we had to do it for Nayeli.
We are thinking of you and praying for your baby.

Dear Sky and Carla -
You don't know me or my family, but Dave and Mignon have been a great influence on my daughter.

I can only imagine what you are going through. Our family is praying for you, as are all at our church. We will be sending the word around to others. Prayer is such a powerful tool and we will do our part to keep it going. We have seen the miracle first-hand with my mother as well as others.

May God bless you and your family.

Linda,
